About the artist

BIOGRAPHY

THEODORA was born in Poitiers, with parents from Corsica and the Lorraine region. The family returned to Lorraine in 1945.

From 1950, she went to school in Metz which she made her hometown. Her talent was soon noticed by her art teacher who encouraged her to take drawing and painting lessons. For 13 years, she remained passionately devoted to these courses.

From a marriage in 1961 she had two sons : Olivier, born in 1967 and Benoît, born in 1969.

After a break entirely dedicated to her family, she resumed her painting activities in 1983 through courses at the Metz School of Fine Arts.

Since 1986, she has devoted all of her time to painting, making it a professional activity from 1988 on. She became a member of the Maison des Artistes.

The artist draws her inspiration from her childhood. She owes it to “THEODORE”, her grandfather, whom she often followed into an enchanted garden where he grew roses, flowers of all kinds, creating as many colours and scents, all stirred up to arouse a fascination of the senses that she reproduced and of which she made her own interpretation.

Add to this all the research and the amount of work spent at her easel in order to create a whirling world of shimmering, coloured shapes full of light.

From then on, she was awarded many prizes and distinctions : whether at the Salon d’Automne in Paris or in international contests, her name also appeared in the directory of officially priced works. She participated in numerous group or private exhibitions throughout Europe where her talent gained public recognition.

THEODORA’s works have entered many private art collections in France, Luxembourg, USA, Italy, Switzerland, Hong Kong.

Critics perceive the artist as presenting a different, new, futuristic approach, an original freedom of expression, that of an artist focused on matter, finding out in her work an action painting trend. But above all, THEODORA creates interior landscapes of an infectious intensity, using the flaming language of chromatic rules.

A number of private exhibitions are being set up in art galleries, others are up and running, for instance in the French administrative department of Meurthe-et-Moselle , in Paris, in Hong Kong, and in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg – USA- Italy – Swiss.
